Date Night!

So...here is the story of our date night...Mark and I can never decide where we should go out to eat.  Sometimes we leave Marshfield and say "Where do you want to eat?" and the other one says "I don't care...where do you want to eat?"  We are awful at making decisions!!  Because of this, we decided that since were playing each other in the championship game of our fantasy football league, the loser would have to plan the date for the winner.  Needless to say...I lost!!

I asked for suggestions for where we should go (thanks everyone for your suggestions!!) We ended up doing dinner at Umi (the Kissy Kissy roll is amazing) and then I planned on going to Firehouse Pottery.  It was closed by the time we were done with dinner, so we went bowling, and then to Fedora for a chocolate fondue dessert :)

Aunt KK of course volunteered to babysit :)

Getting ready to leave Boyd with KK for the night!

In the car on the way to Springfield!

Christmas!

I know this isn't a Christmas picture, but I love his 4 month pic :)  He is now 5 1/2 months, but it's too cute!!  We had a GREAT Christmas with the Messicks on Christmas Eve and the Boyds on Christmas Day.  It was such a fun holiday with our little man!!

We went to Bass Pro to get Boyd's picture taken with Santa.  He was VERY interested in his beard!  He was playing with it :)  The staff there was so good and Grandma Messick was able to take pictures on the side.  I like this one.

This is a picture of Boyd trying to look like Santa :)
Thanks cousin Jackson for letting us borrow your outfit!

Boyd obviously doesn't understand the whole "presents" thing, but he liked playing with that shiny box!

Boyd and cousin Jackson...it's amazing what has changed in the last year!!!

The Boyd sisters...sorry mom and Tracy...we were looking for you!

I like this one of mommy and her little man :)  I hadn't put the ornaments on the tree yet...

This sweatshirt was a gift from Aunt KK so we took a picture of it and sent it to her.  He's getting so big!

Speaking of getting big...look at him sitting up!  Boyd can sit up for about 30 seconds or so and then either falls to the side or falls forward.  He is so proud of himself!

We had such a good Christmas holiday but it went waaaaay to fast!  I had a great time staying home with him, but I had to return to work this week.  Now I'm counting the days until summer when I have him all day for 3 months!!!

Messick Thanksgiving

We had a great time at the Boyd Thanksgiving, and we continued it this week with the Messick side of the family!  We weren't able to see the Elmers, but we saw Aunt Lacey the next day.  Uncle John and Aunt Nancy were able to come from Joplin, so it was a very special Thanksgiving for all of us!  Lindsey and Jon hosted this year, so it was nice to be at their new house.  They have done a great job and were great hosts!

Grandma and Grandpa Messick with Boyd :)

Mark and I got a picture when we got home.  Isn't Boyd adorable in that little vest?  I couldn't pass it up!!

Lindsey and Jon with him...

I just think this picture is really cute!

We also had a nice surprise visit this week by Jilly, my college roommate, and her husband Kevin!  I was so excited to see them because they live in Atlanta!!  I wasn't able to go to their wedding because I was 8 months pregnant and my doctor wouldn't let me.  I was so excited that they made the trip to see me and little Boyd!  Here is a picture of Jilly with Boyd :)

Thanksgiving with the Boyds!

Mark and I have so much to be thankful for.  We are employed, are in good health, have awesome friends, amazing families, two beautiful puppies, and we now have our little blessing, Boyd!  It was a special Thanksgiving for us because we really had time to reflect on all of our many blessings.

We started our Thanksgiving celebration in Farmington last weekend.  We got to see the entire Boyd family (minus Ken) and we had a great time eating and seeing the family.

Grandma Boyd is so good, Boyd loved sleeping in her arms.

Grandpa Boyd and little Boyd have matching hats, so we thought we better get a picture of it!!  How cute are they???

Cousin Amie was the best babysitter, and took great care of Boyd that weekend.

I think his aunts Terri, Laura, and Becky liked seeing Boyd, too!

And although John liked seeing Boyd, he still likes to see little Raider :)

Jackson is also warming up to his younger cousin, he was giving him kisses...how sweet :)

It was a great weekend, and it won't be long until we get to go back for Christmas!!  I love this time of year!!!

Halloween

We always have a big turnout for Halloween, so we were excited to dress up Boyd and let him see the kids.  It was such a nice night so we were able to sit on the front porch for a while.  We were also going to hang out with some friends later, so Mark and I dressed up as well.  I was the farmer, Boyd was the "sick" cow, and Mark was the vet :)  Boyd wasn't really sick, but I was asked that when I told them about our costumes...

So we were shopping in Carter's at Branson, and Grandma Messick found this cow outfit.  She thought it was adorable and had to get it.  We said fine, so Boyd was a cow (it's pretty fitting considering he's a Messick.)  I didn't really look at the costume until I was putting it on him that night, though, and I realized that the pants were actually tights!!!  I told Mark that I thought it was a girl outfit, and he said "Yeah, I knew that.  I thought you did too."

Long story short...we kept getting asked how old SHE was all night...

I'll know next year to make sure he has a BOY Halloween outfit :)

He was the cutest little cow, though!!!

MU Alumni game

I had my MU volleyball reunion back in October.  It was the second MU volleyball game Boyd has attended.  He is already used to being in a gym!  He was very good and we had a lot of fun catching up with friends.

Abbie, Jess, and Shen with Boyd...how cute!

Lindsey and I with Boyd...she does the radio for the games, so she only got to see him after the game.

Mark and I got a picture with Boyd after the game.  He was so good all game, but he was definitely ready to go by the end :)  He is crying in this picture!

3 months

I am embarrassed that it has been over a month since I updated my blog, but I have had a busy month!  I wrapped up my volleyball season and had my banquet, and have been working and doing my grad school work.  I am procrastinating right now because I should be doing a grad paper, but I felt the need to update my blog first :)

Boyd is getting SO big!  Mark weighed him a few days ago (at around 15 weeks) and he weighed 17 pounds!!  I can't believe how big he is getting, but he's just as cute as ever!  He laughs all of the time now, which is the best sound in the entire world :)

He is my little John Deere baby :)

Boyd has grown so much, and has had many more adventures since my last post.  He finally rolled over!!  He was on his belly, and I went to get my camera to take a picture, but when I came back he was on his back!  I couldn't believe it, but now he mainly rolls from his back to his belly and then complains that he's on his belly.  I don't think he realizes he can roll back over :)

This is the face I love on his belly...

Aren't these the cutest PJs?  They have a bulldog on them and it says Slam Dunk!  I got them as a gift but I think they're adorable :)  They are size 12 month, but I don't think many 12 month old babies would fit in them.

Boyd always supports his MU Tigers!!!  MIZ!!
