I know this is really late, but on August 9th I took Boyd to the doctor for his weight check. I was worried about him being back up to his birth weight, but as you can see from the picture below he was 8lbs 11oz!! I was excited to see that he was gaining weight so well :)
The picture was rotated, and for some reason when I attach it it won't rotate back. I can't figure out how to change it, but this shows how much he has grown from birth to August 9th!
As of today (August 19th) he is growing like a weed! I don't worry about him gaining weight anymore, but I know he's a healthy little boy. He eats between 4-6 ounces at every feeding and is chunking up. I didn't think it was possible, but he gets cuter every day and I love him more every minute!!
Boyd has been getting up twice a night, and Mark has been helping out so much. He takes one feeding and I take the other. It has been great, and Mark is the most amazing father!! He usually gets up at 1:00 and then around 4:00 or 5:00. I can't complain!!
Here is Boyd after a bath. It was not his first bath, but we had to get a picture of him in his little towel :)
This is his first pair of overalls. How adorable is he????? :) :) :)

Two week update!
Boyd was two weeks old yesterday, and he is growing every day! His neck is getting really strong, and when we put him on his belly he picks up his head and turns it from side to side. He is just precious!
I start volleyball practice tomorrow, which is going to be sad because I have to leave my baby, but it will be good to start season! The picture below is our "Mommy and Boyd time." It is my favorite time of day :)
We finally got a family picture. Boyd doesn't look too happy in this pic, but he's still adorable!!
Sweet baby...sleeping like mommy. He is so perfect!

The other day Mark asked me to check Boyd's diaper, so I walked over to his pack and play, and he wasn't there! Mark pulled down the covers and showed me that Boyd was snuggling with him :) They were watching SportsCenter together. So cute!!
His eyes are open, which doesn't happen very often. I love his faces!

Boyd's birth day
I should probably update my blog now that my little bundle of joy has arrived!! I have been spending so much time snuggling with him and have not gotten on the computer all week.
So I went in Friday, July 23 to begin the induction. They started giving me stuff to get the process started, and I had to sleep with monitors on my belly all night. Needless to say, I didn't get much sleep. Mark and I both slept about 2 1/2 hours! At 5:00 the next morning they said they were going to start the pitocin. They started it around 5:30 in the morning. At 7:00 Dr. Lehnert came in to break my water, and I started feeling the contractions! They told me they could give me my epidural anytime, so I ended up getting it around 7:45.
Mark was hungry for breakfast and he asked when would be the best time to eat and they said to head down right then. I had just gotten my epidural so Mark thought I would be nice and comfy while he was gone. Apparently I was so far along when they gave it to me, though, that it never helped with my contractions. They were hurting pretty bad.
Around 8:15 they decided to check me, and realized that I was ready to have a baby!! Mark was still downstairs getting food so they had me call him back up. Dr. Lehnert came in and was surprised at how fast I was progressing. It was between pushes that I told him that my mom had 2 hour labors also, and he said that was something that might have been nice to know earlier :)
So at 9:09 am on July 24 Boyd William Messick arrived!!! At 30 weeks they said that he would be around 7 lbs, but he was 8 lbs 5 oz! He is just perfect, and has long fingers and really big feet. He was 22 inches long, so we're hoping he will be tall. He has blonde hair and perfect little skin. I just love staring at him all day :) I can't imagine life without him and he isn't even a week old yet!

39 weeks!!
Well we made it to 39 weeks without having little Boyd! I go to the doctor on Tuesday and hopefully we will find out more. I will be 39 1/2 weeks pregnant at that point. I am getting pretty anxious! Today has been the worst day, I want to meet him so bad, but I guess I should enjoy my sleep while I can get it and be thankful that we've been blessed because he is still healthy.
Check out those black eyes!!
We've also had a little bit of a scare with Mark recently. He went in because he had something on his nose and the doctor said he could cut it out and send it off or he could send him to a dermatologist. He decided to have him cut it off. They sent it off and we found out it was skin cancer. I was worried when I heard the word cancer, but it's not as scary as I first thought. He ended up going to a dermatologist to make sure they got all of it out. They took two samples from his nose and said that it was all gone, so that's good news. He had to break away the cartilage from his nose, though, and had to make a longer incision for healing purposes. He now has 20 stitches in his nose and a cut from the top down to the tip of his poor little nose!
The pictures below show his very swollen nose, but he gets his stitches out on Wednesday. He is hoping that I wait until then to have Boyd so he won't have a big bandage for the pictures in the hospital. I guess I might be able to wait that long :)
Check out those black eyes!!

Pregnancy Portraits
My friend Sheena took some pictures at 28 weeks and they turned out great! I could only pick a few, but there were so many good ones to choose from. Sheena is so talented! I want to take some more now that I am bigger, but we'll see how much time we have.

Boyd's room!!
I am excited about Boyd's room. It is finally coming together, but there is still work to do! I am waiting on a dust ruffle and curtain to add a little color, and I got the rug in today that isn't in the pictures. Other than that, it is still kind of boring as far as colors go. I like it, though, and Rolen loves sitting in his room with me. I can see late night feedings with Rolen sitting at my feet :)
Here is his toy box that was made for him.

My friend Jamalee gave us this saying and I thought it would look good above the door.
The rocking chair was also made for Boyd and he has his buddy Fredbird occupying the seat right now :)
His crib and glider/rocker (well the glider/rocker is really for me!) Mark found the sports wall hangings at Target and had to get them. I was proud of him!
His changing table on top of my Craig's List dresser. I am so proud of that dresser...it looked in pretty bad shape when we got it. I am happy with the way it turned out, and the Mizzou hanging was Mark's idea, too. It's a heritage banner that shows the Mizzou logos through time.
We couldn't decide where to put his name, so we ended up putting it above his closet, and then we had bought a bat and decided to put it above the other closet. Again, Mark's idea! I don't think I had any say in his room at all!!
Last but not least, I had to show all of his shoes and booties! Aunt Becky got him the red Converse, a couple from church got him the Nike's, and Carol got him the rubber boots! We have been collecting the Jordan booties over time and have added more from friends. He has also inherited some cowboy boots from Uncle John and Aunt Tracy. I think he's catching up on having as many shoes as his mom and dad, but that's kind of our thing :)

I'm new at this!
I have never done a blog before, so I thought with our new arrival it might be a good way to keep family and friends updated! I am still trying to figure everything out so it might not look great at first, but hopefully I will get it all figured out :)
